Sun City Facts

The building of Sun City began in 1995. The community sits near the beautiful South Carolina Coast on more than 5,000 acres in Beaufort and Jasper Counties. At build-out there will be 9000 roof tops and close to 19,000 residents.

  • Sun City sprawls over more than 5,725 acres (9 square miles).
  • There are 1,500 acres of open land and wetlands.
  • Approximately 9,000 lots are projected to be sold with more than 18,000 residents expected when the community is complete.
  • Riverbend has over 76 acres, with a clubhouse, pool, and wharf, which provides access to the ocean.
  • There are 7.5 miles of walking trails and paths.
  • There are 36 Common Area buildings totaling 180,000 square feet.
  • The three state-of-the-art fitness centers receive more than 800 visitors per day.
  • Amenities include six swimming pools (two indoor and four outdoor), a performing arts center, crafts center, a state-of-the-art woodshop, sport park and softball field, 16 Pickleball courts, 16 Har Tru Tennis courts, 6 Horse Shoe Pits, Croquet, and 8 Bocce courts.
  • Hidden Cypress and Okatie Creek Golf Courses combined account for approximately 320 acres with approximately 5-6 miles of golf paths per each course. Argent Lakes Golf Course covers 77 acres. Featuring 54 golf holes and 230 tee placements.
  • There are 57 neighborhoods in Sun City Hilton Head, with 62 estimated at build out as development continues north of Hwy. 278.
  • There are over 100 Chartered Clubs & Activities: Crafting, Singing, Acting, Pool, Ping Pong, Computer, Card Playing, and Special Interest groups.
